Wine Tasting

Wine tasting is enjoyable for novices and experts alike as long as the event is informative, informal, and fun. Portal hosts a series of courses throughout the year at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

Discover how fine wines carefully matched to your menu can really bring the dishes alive. We organise a full tasting of various wines, paired with regional Portuguese and French cheeses and cured hams. You will taste six specially selected wines and an accompaniment of delicious cheeses. The event will be hosted by Portal’s owner Antonio or a member of his team who will share their tacit knowledge and guide you through the tasting.

Antonio is a member of the Confraria do Vinho do Porto (Royal Port Society), and Confraria da Bairrada. Having obtained vast knowledge and experience over the years in Port and wine, he has created a surprising wine-list exemplifying new reach and bounds for Portugese wines in the United Kingdom. Along with his relationships with top wine producers in Portugal, he has been able to house top wines from the award-winning vineyards. Having wines from boutique vineries to top names such as Quinta do Portal, Ferreirinha ‘Barca Velha’, Luis Pato,
Malhadinhna Nova and Quinta do Noval Nacional. The premium reserves are carefully selected and stored in the restaurants’cellar, which is set in the private dining room.
